July Birthstones- Carnelian & Ruby
July girls, you were born with the warmest stones on the whole calendar, and we are a little bit obsessed. Ruby and carnelian are both rich in color, bold, and both made for summer. Ruby is the one everybody knows. Carnelian is the underrated one we want more people to know about. Honestly, we love them as a pair.
Ruby: Motivation & Enthusiasm
Ruby is the stone of motivation and enthusiasm, and you can kind of feel that just looking at it. Ours sits somewhere between red and pink, and every stone is a little different, which we love. It’s the one you reach for when you want a little fire, a little push, a little “let’s go.”
Carnelian: Creativity
Carnelian is the July alternative birthstone, the one we have in all of our stone sizes. Ours runs from light orange to deep orange, so no two are quite the same, somewhere between July sunshine and a really good peach. The meaning is creativity, and it has been worn for that for about as long as people have worn stones at all.
It’s the maker’s stone. The one you put on when you want to feel a little more like yourself, a little braver about your own ideas. And the color goes with everything you already own, which never hurts.
Why We Love Them in Summer
These two were made for warm weather. Ruby red and carnelian orange against sun-warmed skin, a white tank, a linen dress, bare arms. The whole point of summer jewelry is that it does the work while you do nothing. These stones do exactly that.
And here’s the fun part. July is one of the only months where the two birthstones look so good stacked together. A little red, a little orange, layered up the wrist or the neck. Warm on warm. We are very into it.
A Little Gifting Note
If you’re shopping for a July birthday, you have an easy in. Ruby for the friend who needs a push this year, a new job, a big move, a fresh goal. Carnelian for the creative one, the maker, the friend who’s always starting something. And if you can’t decide, that’s what stacking is for.
