Well, the winner of the JB Pressure Washer at the Man Party was Richard Cummins. Congratulations Richard! The prize was a good one and many of our men were “bidding” for it. Each year we have a prize for our biggest spender. Last year, for example was a set of Henckels Knives. For some reason this year’s competition was much more fierce. I guess a pressure washer is something every man can use! Check out the smile on our man who made his beautiful lady Mary happy with a plethora of jewels (and himself at the same time). Can you say win-win situation?!!!

Acrylic Displays are the Best!
Tuesday, December 15th, 2009Hi jewelry designers out there. I just wanted to give you all a plug for acrylic displays. They really are the best way to show off your creations. I used to use the white leather busts, bracelet moons & t-bars and they really don’t do justice to your pieces. Here’s why:
1. The busts take up too much space. With a t-bar or an easel type of set up you can showcase a lot more jewelry. If you are like we are and have a lot of inventory, it can be overwhelming to have so much white everywhere and so many busts to look at.
2. They get dirty & dusty very quickly. White busts attract lots of dirt and the glue holding them together turns yellow eventually.
3. They don’t travel well. We’ve lost many t-bars & busts in the past to breakage & bending. They are just not solid enough to make it in a suitecase.
Benefits of acrylic:
1. It looks professional. Just walk into any high profile store and you’ll see acrylic. This will resonate with your customers as well.
2. It’s sturdy.
3. It breaks down for ease of travel. The t-bars unscrew from the bases. It makes set up take a bit longer, but it’s worth it.
It is expensive but you can try Trio Display and Tucson Store Fixtures. I’ve bought from both of them and they will work with you if you by volume. It’s a big investment so you can gradually switch over, which is exactly what I did.
When you have a necklace that must be displayed on a bust, take a look at Rio Grande’s linen easel busts. They are really nice and pack beautifully. I’m sure they also have black velvet easel busts if you prefer the black look.
Acrylic that I use:
-Bracelet bars, different heights of T-Bars for necklaces and bracelets, 2 bar & 3 bar T-Bars to save space & to display different items in the same collection.
-risers in all different sizes to give the display varying heights
-ring displays, 5 finger, 9 finger & single finger
Try it out, I think you’ll see your pieces in a new way, and so will your customers!
xx,

Did You Know…?
Thursday, December 3rd, 2009Did you know that the easiest way to untangle a knotted necklace or bracelet is to put it in some corn starch? Just get it all up in there and the knot will come right out.
Now lets all go raid those jewelry boxes of ours, bring some old tangled pieces out and bring them back to life!
Some may need cleaning so come on down and purchase yourself a polishing cloth to keep all jewelry nice and sparkly!
