Alright – as anyone in retail knows, Christmas starts now, folks.  It is difficult to imagine that it is really 3 months away, but with our shows for the fall starting this week (Friday, Sept 25!) we have to constantly think in terms of the next few months when doing anything.  New designs, inventory to keep on hand, ordering supplies: it’s all very tough to keep straight in my mind.

And then you have the new ideas.  Yes, new stuff while all the other stuff is going on.  Why do we do this to ourselves, you might ask.  Why create more work?  The answer is… wait for it… we can’t help it.  It’s hard sometimes to remember that we are, in fact, creating art.  It is easy to look at it all and exclaim how creative Judith is to keep coming up with all of these new ideas, but it sometimes gets lost in the translation of creative -> business rather than creative -> art ->business.  We have to go with the inspiration.  If we don’t go with the new ideas as they come it is too easy to push them back and then forget about them.  It is a very fluid process. One that is incredibly fun to be a part of, to see, to discuss, to help to make it happen. The ebb and flow of the creative conscious is soooo interesting.  And mind boggling.  And frustrating. And wonderful.

Have I mentioned that I love my job?

We came up with a great ring style this week!  We’ve been using our new MiniRocks stones to create some new rings.  This is one design that we’ve completed that is so much fun.  We are enjoying combining different colors.  We can get wild or go traditional with them.  They run the gambit from an old-style engagement ring look to a modern ring with a fun combination of color.  They look great alone as they are substantial in size or with a wrapped band on either side.  You can also combine them with your wedding ring or bands for a great stacked look- a.k.a. major hardware look!  What do you think?
