The Rebound- To Be Released 2010

We were thrilled to hear that Catherine Zeta-Jones is wearing some of our jewelry in her upcoming Romantic Comedy “The Rebound”.  It’s slated to be released in 2010 and word on the street is that it’s really cute!

Here she is below wearing our gold hammered hoops.

This is the only photo we have from the film but there are several other pieces she’ll be wearing.  Isn’t Judith Bright jewelry lucky to be on such a beautiful actress like Catherine Zeta-Jones?

Wah!!! “Samantha Who?” is Cancelled!

Monday, May 18th, 2009

It was such a surprise to hear that our beloved Christina Applegate’s show “Samantha Who?” will not return for a third season.  It’s really too bad as the show was hilarious and Christina and the cast wore our jewelry for each season of the show!!!  The costume designer Susan Michalek and her design staff were so much fun to work with, we will certainly miss that collaboration.  Here are some images along the way.  We can’t wait to see what the very talented and awesome Christina and the crew will do next….

Notes from Birmingham

Saturday, May 16th, 2009

For starters- we pulled into the pea gravel drive of one of the most beautiful houses I’ve seen in a long time.  Everything was dreamy- from the landscaping to the paint to the furniture- casual elegance pretty much sums it up .  We were blown away by the flair of our delightful hostess Catherine Romero.  She and her husband John- one of my best & favorite clients- welcomed us with open arms.  Special note:  John gets my “father of the year award” as he took the kids to the zoo, to dinner and then to an ice cream parlor- and maybe somewhere else I can’t remember!  Bottom line, he’s a great dude.   Now, back to Catherine- we really appreciated everything she did to create a wonderful environment for our cocktail hour start to the show.  You can see in the pix just how lovely everything was.

We settled right in and popped the cork on some nice wine and dug into the great cheeses-

there was pecorino, chevre, blue cheese, robiola bosina, creamy brie all served with fresh grapes, dried cherries, salted almonds & cashews.  Heather and I were in artisinal cheese heaven.

The first person to drop by was Evelyn Stutts

who is the aunt of one of my great pals from Vanderbilt.  I hadn’t seen her in 19 years but I swear she looked exactly the same.  I want to do whatever she’s doing.  Living right, probably!  (No matter how much I wish for the secret, it’s always that- darn it!)

That night we went to eat at an awesome restaurant called AVO.  It felt like I was back in LA.  It was beautifully hip and very delicious.  Get a prickly pear if you dare….

The following day was really busy and we met many future BFF’s.  The girls who came were so cute and fun- we are definitely planning our return at holiday time!  Birmingham has definitely made it into our most fun port-of-calls!

Mother’s Day Weekend @ Henri Bendel!

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Had a great show at Henri Bendel this past weekend.  My set up was good and I was in a great location, right by the register.  bendels1Doubly good as I loved the sales ladies that I was working with.  I’d worked with them all before and they are so much fun and are so good at what they do.

The weekend was  a blast as I got to see my parents and my brother and sister-in-law and niece and nephew who live in Madison, NJ.  I was also visited by great friends.  I saw Courtney O’ Malley from NCS days and Karen Glass from LA days and two of my favorite customers, Sarah & Tracy stopped by.  I was also visited by my cousin Gardner and his prego  (!) wife Sarah and their little boy William.  It’s so nice to have visitors during the long hours there.  On Sunday the highlight of my trip was a visit me-lucy-justinefrom BFFL (best friend for life) Stephanie Henry and her two girlies Justine & Lucy.  They bought me presents for mother’s day and took me to lunch!  We ate upstairs as the chocolate bar and It was awesome.  If you are there, try the mayo-less tuna sandwich on olive bread- yum city!

It was a great trip and I got to see a girlie movie “He’s Just Not That Into You”.  I missed my boys over the weekend but got to catch up on sleep and have a respite from ESPN & Guitar Hero for 4 whole days!

A noir-murder mystery-alternate history-Jewish identity/faith crisis-chess thriller…

picture-4Yep, you read that right. The Yiddish Policeman’s Union by Michael Chabon is all that and more. For those of you who might not know, (I didn’t until I read the book), Franklin Roosevelt had proposed creating a safe haven in Alaska for displaced Jews going into WWII. Chabon wrote this novel as if that had passed, and the “frozen Chosen” are set up in Sitka, Alaska. It can be a little challenging to get into, not because the plot is slow – the alcoholic detective protagonist Meyer Landsman is introduced on the first page with a fresh murder to investigate, but the frequent use of Yiddish slang can take a few pages to get used to for those of us who are unfamiliar with it, but don’t let that stop you: the book is brilliant.

For those who are into such things, The Yiddish Policeman’s Union has won the Nebula, Locus, and Hugo awards. Michael Chabon is also the Pulitzer Prize winning author of The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier and Clay, as well as the young adult book Summerland, which is how I found him.

Notes From Our DC Trunk Show

My KD sister & fellow partner in crime at Vanderbilt- let's just leave it at that!

My KD sister & fellow partner in crime at Vanderbilt- let's just leave it at that!

This past weekend I “went home” to the place of my birth- Washington, DC.  Elisabeth Owen Hayes, my oldest friend (she’s not crazy about that term- but it’s true!) hosted my first DC show at her beautiful house in Chevy Chase, MD.  It was a rainy weekend but that didn’t stop us from having a great show and a great time visiting.  Her husband and three sons were out of town so we had big-time girl-time.

BFF's from Kindergarten. Her mom let her have a guinea pig & I was so jealous!

From the summers at the Chalfonte Hotel- what happens in Cape May, stays in Cape May....

We unabashedly ate several bags of m&m’s with our red wine and had lots of laughs.  We were visited by some friends of hers and friends of mine from way back- like St. Patricks kindergarten way back- and NCS way back & Madeira way back, Cape May/ Chalfonte Hotel summers way back and even Vanderbilt way back!  I felt that I was at my second wedding without the divorce.  It was so much fun seeing these precious people!  Thanks to everyone who came!!!
