JB Spotted!

Tuesday, September 7th, 2010

Check us out on today’s StyleBluePrint blog on Fall fashion trends for accessories! The trend they talk about is how you CAN pair your fall scarves with a bold, statement necklace, shown above. And what better bracelets to match to your neck candy than some simple yet classic sandalwood bracelets. They go with absolutely any look! I have worn my sandalwoods with everything from my LBD to jeans and a tee. Thanks to Style Blueprint for letting your readers know that the Judith Bright sandalwood bracelets are the perfect completion to any accessory look!

Go bold with a Rockstar Sandalwood, Lots O’Rocks Sandalwood, Petite Rocks, or Rockless, or mix and match them all!

One thing I have noticed about Fall style this season is that, and I’m not just being biased, its ALL about the accessories! Get back to the basics with neutral-toned, chunky sweaters over your jeans, green cargo skinnies, or perhaps some solid, jewel-tone dresses and let your jewelry be the statement for once, instead of just being an accessory to the look…pardon the pun.

Last Styling Video with Coquette Designs!

Friday, August 6th, 2010

TGIF! I saved the sexiest style video for last. Hope you guys have enjoyed our styling videos we created with the vintage-inspired swimwear by designer Brooke Shipley of Coquettes Designs. Perhaps now you will be a bit more inclined to glamorize your beach time or pool side look with some statement jewelry! And if you happen to make that Judith Bright Jewlery, then hopefully these videos gave you some ideas in how to pair what jewelry with your swimsuit style!

This is The Marilyn swimsuit. Daring, yet still leaves much to the imagination. Marilyn Monroe is the epitome of iconic beauty. It wasn’t what she bared in her swimwear that turned heads, but that certain je ne sais quoi that she left to the imagination. The peekaboo cutout in the front of this suit is all you need to reveal to make this swimsuit one of your sexiest looks.

We paired the metallic black fabric of this suit with sterling silver pieces like the Double Strand Marquis Necklace and the Paisley Chunk Necklace, with some Rockless Bangles on her wrist, a RockStar Black Spinel Ring, and some dangly Lotus Earrings on top. Hope you enjoyed our style videos, keep a lookout for our more in-depth interview with the designer, Brooke Shipley!!!

Coquette Designs & Judith Bright Part III

Thursday, August 5th, 2010

Hope you guys have been enjoying our styling videos with Brooke Shipley of Coquette Designs. We had so much fun in the studio that day pairing her vintage-inspired swimwear with Judith Bright’s classic baubles. Hope that our videos have inspired some of you to bring back the glamour in your swimsuits with jewelry. Swimsuits should not be a dreaded wardrobe! It should not be a competition with others to see who can reveal more or a competition with yourself to see which suits can cover, shield and tuck more.

The iconic beauties who inspired the designs of these suits like Brigitte Bardot, Liz Taylor and The Katharine Hepburn(shown above) were women who are remembered for their beauty and a kind of class that will never go out of style. They would shudder at the thought of the butt cleavage the stars of today bestow upon us. What is sexy about Kim Kardasian in a brazillian cut bottom? Her curves are what make her sexy when the details of her curves are left to our imagination. Beauties of this era were considered  gorgeous, statuesque glamazons and the best part is that they all came in sizes that would leave some similar-sized women running for a sarong.  But why? I think that we should bring back the glamour of swimsuits that are cut to flatter us all and lovingly hug our every curve without revealing every detail of it! And who doesn’t feel even more beautiful once they have their jewelry on? Lounging by the pool or hanging out on the beach was once an occasion women would dress up for. Don’t get stuck in a over-sized tee and Old Navy flip flop rut! Put a black sarong over The Katherine suit so your Black Spinel pendant isn’t covered. Don’t put your hair in a ball cap, but wear it in a classic braid to accentuate some dangly Brigitte earrings or highlight some Nest Post Studs!

The Katharine is a gorgeous one piece suit that changes from a pattern to a solid at the waist to better accentuate it. It gives a slimming effect without look boyish and shapeless like most one-piece suits. I imagine Katharine Hepburn wearing this piece since it can be considered more on the conservative side, but maintains an element of flirtation with the girlish bow on the back just above the derriere.

We paired it with pieces from the Gold + Rocks collection in Black Spinel gemstone. Around the neck we have the 14k Gold-Filled RockStar Wrapped Circle Pendant in Black Spinel layered with the MiniRocks Chain in Black Spinel. On her wrists are the Half-Wrapped Black Spinel Cuff with a Rockless 14k Gold-Filled Stacking Cuff and the RockStar Square-Wrapped Cuff in Black Spinel on the opposite wrist. Finishing the look we kept it simple with Black Spinel Nest Post Stud Earrings.

Judith Bright & Coquette Designs Part Deux

Wednesday, August 4th, 2010

Since we styled several of Brooke Shipley’s gorgeous, vintage-inspired suits from Coquette Designs with Judith Bright Jewelry, we are bringing them to you in segments. Especially since every one of these suits with different Judith Bright collections deserve their own spotlight and undivided attention for the day!

This swimsuit is called The Liz, after Elizabeth Taylor since its vibrant violet shades reminded us of the iconic starlets violet eyes. We paired it with pieces from the ameoba collection:  Multi-Ameoba Earrings, the Ameoba Collar, the Ameoba Lasso Chain and the Ameoba Pendant necklaces all layered together.  We finished off the look with several Ameoba Stacking Cuffs and an Ametrine Raj Rocks Wrapped Ring for another pop of violet color! Check out our styling video with the designer Brooke Shipley and our Creative Director for Judith Bright, Ashley Clapp…

Glamorize Your Swimwear!

Tuesday, August 3rd, 2010

One of my trips this summer was to Miami, Florida and the biggest fashion tip I got from my time there is the return of jewelry to the beach! Why not make lounging on the beach, or hitting your next pool party, an occasion for glamour! Dress up your swimsuits like the hot mommas on South Beach, because I think they knew something I didn’t, but wish I had. I envied their celebration for life and flare as they strutted the sidewalks in curve-hugging suits underneath layered necklaces, extra large hoop earrings and big statement rings sure to catch the eye of any cabana boy looking for the next back to lotion.

I have made a conscious effort for the rest of summer to bring back the glamour in my swimwear. First I needed the right curve hugging suit that would make any Miami senorita proud.  So I went to designer Brooke Shipley of Coquette Designs! This is Brooke’s first line of vintage-inspired swimwear with ultra-flattering, high-waisted bottoms, flirtatious ruffles and bow-tie details.  We couldn’t resist featuring this talented, emerging designer and deck out her pieces with Judith Bright Jewelry.

This is the first styling video of many to come throughout the week, followed by an interview VLOG with the designer. The suit is called The Brigitte, since it is the epitome of what the French bombshell, Brigitte Bardot would frolic on the beach in. We paired it with some extra large hoop earrings in 14k gold-filled, the paisley necklace in Peridot with the double strand MiniRocks layering chain in Carnelian, one long MiniRocks chain in Carnelian, a plain 14k gold-filled chain strung through the belt loops on the bottoms, an assortment of sandalwood bracelets in varied stones paired with an 11Stone cuff in Carnelian and finished the look with a Lots O’ Rocks ring in Carnelian. Enjoy!

Jewelry Tips for the “On-Camera” Gal

So I asked her jump in front of the studio camera and vlog with me about tips for what jewelry looks better in front of the lens as well as for any career that involves public speaking, formal meetings etc… Check it out!

Cheap Jewelry- Not A Good Deal

Monday, July 19th, 2010

I would have to safely say that I believe, now in 2010, that our general population is starting to take notice and become more aware of the things that they are putting into their body. Americans are buying organic, switching to soy etcetera and actually researching what that means for their health. We are even more aware of mercury content in the fish we eat. So why are we not more careful about the toxins we are bringing around us like lead and cadmium found in cheap jewelry? Recent studies have led to numerous recalls of children’s jewelry for the high amounts of lead found, some 100 times the legal limit. Disney and the Miley Cyrus for Walmart brands are among the lines that tested dangerous. Reps for BCBG MaxAzria, the designer who created Cyrus’ line, claimed that the jewelry is not dangerous as long as it is simply just worn on your body. But, how many times have you seen your child put their jewelry, or anything they can get their hands on, in their mouth? Kids are always biting, chewing, sucking on their toys, which often includes play jewelry. I can claim at least three siblings who have accidentally swallowed various pieces of jewelry in their day. Heck, I even catch myself chewing on my long mini rocks layering chain, but at least I know that its 14k gold-filled and completely safe from hazardous materials.

Cadmium became a public concern back in January when an investigation by The Associated Press revealed items at Walmart and other major chains contained as much as 91 percent the toxic metal by weight! Cadmium is a carcinogen and like lead, can hinder brain development. Long-term exposure can lead to bone softening and kidney failure. Preteen girls are of particular concern because at that age, women more likely have iron deficiencies and their bodies can latch on to the cadmium as a substitute and because that tends to be the age we all start to wear more jewelry.

We are soon fully launching our girl’s line, meant for girls aged 8 to 18 and we feel really good about the items we make, especially in their safety for children.  The reason we can make things safe is that everything we have is handmade and we don’t mass produce anything.  Like anything, if it’s mass-produced it’s not going to be a high quality item.  No matter what it is.  We carefully choose each item that we use to make our jewelry and we know our vendors who supply our parts very well.  We’ve used the same vendors for years and they are just as picky as we are!

Our jewelry may be more costly than the necklace I was eyeing at Forever 21 the other day, but if I spend more money buying my organic chicken breasts to save myself from the harmful amounts of hormones and chemicals, then why wouldn’t I carry the same mentality into my jewelry purchases?

The Importance of Lightweight Metals to your Ears

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Brigitte Earrings

Here at Judith Bright we take every consideration to ensure that our jewelry is the finest of quality for you. That especially includes the weight of our metals. Our earrings are made of sterling silver and 14k gold-filled and are the lightest-weight earrings around!  We are becoming known for that fact and the word is definitely spreading….

A common concern our customers have shopping for earrings is elongated earlobes. This is caused by several things, like wearing earrings that are too heavy for the delicate skin tissue surrounding your piercing or simply the fact that we lose elasticity in our skin, even in our earlobes as we age. Elongated earlobes make it difficult  to find stud earrings that will sit right on the ear and not droop. Not to mention the unattractive look

Extra Large Hoops

of an earring looking as though it’s about to fall through your ear.  We’ve seen women in our office who have visited plastic surgeons who have stitched their ears back up and re-pierced them.  The results are excellent and our clients have been very pleased.  Some women resort to Restalyne (yes the stuff used for lip augmentation) injections to plump up and strengthen their earlobes. These are more extreme corrective measures that aren’t  necessary with so many of our lightweight styles. I would honestly recommend trying to give your ears a bit of a jewelry vacation from heavy metals all together and make the switch to the lighter side. In time, you will see a huge difference in the appearance of your earlobe and the size of your piercing.  Our heaviest design is the Brigitte, shown to the left, and only weights 1.2 grams!!! If studs are more your style, our Nest Posts only weigh 4.09 grams!!

Nest Posts in London Blue

With lighter jewelry, you can give your ears a breather and still wear your favorite styles! Or if you want to take a break from piercings all together, we can convert many of our styles into clip-on versions. Definitely try to give your skin a chance to heal itself naturally. And if you have yet to experience the troubles of elongated earlobes,  then the most important thing is to be preventative. You dont have to sacrifice your ears for great style. Jewelry is supposed to accent your natural beauty, not damage it! So give your ears a gift and take a look through our wide variety of lightweight designs.
